Our team
The Flora May Foundation's Board of Directors is a passionate group of all-women Businesswomen who excel in their respective careers, have lived-experience, and add exceptional insights to The Flora May Foundation.
Our Members are actively engaged in community awareness of children's mental health, creating job opportunities for underemployed women, and guiding philanthropic support for our programs.

Debbie Hansen
Founder & CEO
Debbie Hansen is the Founder and CEO of The Flora May Foundation, a nonprofit she created in honor of her mother, Flora May. One of nine children raised by Flora and Richard Hansen, Debbie grew up in a bustling family where tradition, teamwork, and service were simply how life was lived. As a single mother raising twin daughters, she experienced firsthand how overwhelming it can feel when a child is struggling with their behavior. When she searched for guidance herself, she found no resources designed specifically for parents in crisis with their adolescent. Out of that gap, she created a unique parent-centered child crisis organization, a one-stop resource for concerned parents who do not know how to or have the tools to help their child.
Today, Debbie leads a dual mission organization built on one belief: strong families require both emotional stability and economic security. The Foundation supports parents facing adolescent mental health challenges, neurodivergence, self-harm, truancy, substance use, and other immediate crisis situations, offering confidential guidance, free therapy, and parental support groups when it's needed most. At the same time, through Working Women Winning (WWW), The Flora May Foundation equips underemployed women with technical training and workforce skills so they can regain financial independence and confidence. By strengthening parents in moments of crisis and empowering women to build stable futures, Debbie's work addresses both sides of family resilience, helping households move from survival to stability.
In addition to leading The Flora May Foundation and founding Working Women Winning, she serves on the Board of Directors for Arts for All and The Flora May Foundation, is a Nonprofit Advisory Council Member for OneOC, an Ambassador for Success with Purpose, and a Council Member for Passkeys Foundation and the Institute for Community Impact. In 2025, the Foundation was named one of Orange County's Civic 50, recognizing it as one of the 50 most civic-minded corporations in the county, an honor she holds close to her heart.

Sofia wants to become a dermatologist, since her passion stems from helping others and putting a smile on their face. Her favorite part about interning is the impact she has with the public; through social media posts and campaigns she's created for our organization. Her hobbies include volleyball, photography, and painting when she's not in school or interning for The Flora May Foundation. Sofia's goal is to gain experience while she's attending college, to round out her resume.
